USA - GE Energy expanding wind power’s grid integration capabilities
Addressing the growing industry requirements for improved methods of integrating wind power into electrical grids, GE Energy has introduced two new products at WINDPOWER 2006.
• WindRIDE-THRU, which allows wind turbines to remain in operation (rather than trip off line) during a 100 percent voltage drop.
• WindFREE Reactive Power control delivers controlled reactive power, even in zero wind conditions (reactive power is energy that must be produced for maintenance of the system).
Offering a new range of grid-friendly benefits, these new options join GE’s integrated suite of controls and electronics, designed for higher levels of wind power plant performance.
