Forest Enterprise Scotland Contributes to Renewable Energy Production

Forest Enterprise Scotland is an agency of the Forestry Commission and manages the National Forest Estate on behalf of Scottish Ministers. It has installed a capacity of over 1 GW of renewable energy as of now.

Tree-mendous renewable energy boost

Scotland’s national forest estate now has installed capacity of over 1 GW of renewable energy, generating enough electricity for around 500,000 homes each year.

This capacity is contributing to the Scottish Government’s target to supply 100% of Scotland’s electricity consumption from renewable sources by 2020. The renewable energy boost has been achieved by Forest Enterprise Scotland and a number of key energy companies who have developed renewables on the national forest estate.
