Wind Industry Profile of

Russia Will Invest in Renewables Next Year

Next year, calls for tenders for the construction of renewable energy facilities with a total capacity of almost 1 GW are to take place in Russia

This was announced by the First Deputy Energy Minister Alexei Texler during the Russian Energy Week. “57 MW – by the sun, 899 MW – in the wind (wind farm), “he said, according to the Russian Wind Energy Association RAWI. When asked whether the entire capacity is to be put out to tender as early as 2018, he replied: "Probably yes."

A first call for tenders was already held this year: In the years 2018 to 2022, wind farms with a capacity of 1,651 MW are to be built. The Russian Renewable Energy Act provides for the construction of wind farms with a capacity of 3,350 MW by 2024, with 65 percent of the parts required having to be produced within the country according to a' local content' regulation.
