EEW SPC to manufacture 174 monopiles for Hornsea Project 1

DONG Energy announced that EEW SPC will manufacture all monopiles for the 174-turbine offshore wind farm

DONG Energy has today announced that EEW Special Pipe Constructions GmbH (EEW SPC) will manufacture all monopiles for the 174-turbine offshore wind farm, Hornsea Project One. The companies previously announced a contract for 116 monopiles in November 2016, and today’s news extends the contract to cover all 174 foundations for what will become the biggest wind farm in the world. Each monopile foundation has a diameter of up to 8.1m and weighs approximately 900 tons.
