Vestas sets the single year record in 2016 and strengthens its grip on the top position globally
Momentum up the global rankings of Chinese turbine OEMs slowed in 2016 due to a largely singular focus on a China market that installed 20% less capacity YoY.
Vestas won the top position in MAKE’s top 15 global rankings, according to MAKE’s Global Wind Turbine OEM 2016 Market Share analysis. The pure-play turbine OEM added 8.7GW across 36 markets in 2016, distancing itself from the runner-up, GE, by nearly three %-points, the largest differential between the top two spots in the ranking since 2013. Western turbine OEMs accounted for four of the top five positions and seven positions overall in the top 15 global rankings.
