SeaPlanner Manages Record Amounts of Project Data During Construction Phase of Gemini

SeaPlanner has managed a record quantity of project data throughout the construction phase of the Gemini Offshore Wind Park.

The Netherlands based offshore wind farm is one of the largest in the world and has been supported by SeaPlanner since the beginning of 2015 when it was confirmed as the proprietary management system by operators, Van Oord.

As of 1st July 2016, SeaPlanner had recorded a staggering 105,395 personnel transfers on the project, of which 64,942 were handled as automated swipe card transfers – a method that significantly reduces administration time for the marine coordinators based in Eemshaven, Netherlands.

At 68 square kilometre in size and located 85 kilometres off the Netherlands north coast, the Gemini Offshore Wind Park presents a number of logistical complexities for maintaining the highest levels of safety and efficiency. Over the course of the construction phase, SeaPlanner has provided complete control and visibility to the project team with access to a significant amount of data including:

  • 121 Project specific vessels tracked
  • 123 Registered contractors
  • 3,283 Online inductions
  • 4,427 Total registered personnel
  • 20,274 Certification files

Dominic Stratton, Business Development Manager for SeaPlanner commented: “This has been an extremely interesting project for us to work on. With Gemini having to manage such high volumes of personnel and vessel movements, the system to monitor this activity needed to be exceptionally accurate and reliable. The complexities of the Gemini project have supported us in the further development of our software. As projects like Gemini are developed further offshore they continue to provide new challenges and we have invested heavily in the solutions that we provide for our clients and are proud to provide the most advanced and robust systems for marine management, tracking and communications.”
