The scope of the services includes heavy lift and storage of turbine components as well as warehouse management and support activities related to the tower assembly work. The Blue Water personnel on site in Port of Providence are working closely with local sub-contractors to perform the services.
Built by Deepwater Wind and located three miles off the coast of Block Island (Rhode Island), the wind farm is scheduled to come online at the end of 2016 and generate 125,000 megawatt-hours of electricity which is enough to meet 90% of Block Island's power needs.
In addition to the hub logistics in the Port of Providence Blue Water has also been performing the transport of the wind turbine components, namely the tower sections from Aviles in Spain and the Blades from Denmark.
