Thailand: Gamesa installs its first G114-2.0 MW in Asia-Pacific
Gamesa has installed its first G114-2.0 MW in Asia-Pacific, in the Subplu1 wind farm in Thailand.
This project, which was announced in July 2015, is Gamesa first project breakthrough in the Thai market. Specifically, Gamesa signed an agreement with Chinese developer PowerChina ZhongNan for the supply of 30 of its G114-2.0 MW turbines at three wind farms. The wind turbines are scheduled for commissioning in 2016 and Gamesa will maintain all these facilities for the next 10 years.
Álvaro Bilbao, CEO of Gamesa in APAC, and Feng Shurong, General Manager of PowerChina Zhongnan Chinese EPC contractor, participated the ceremony to witness the successful moment.
In addition, these G114-2.0 MWs, with tower height of 125m, are among the highest turbines in Southeast Asian region.
The G114-2.0 MW, which has emerged a standard-bearer in the sector thanks to its low power density model, is designed to yield more power at lower cost at low and medium wind speed sites such as those typical of Thailand. Gamesa has already signed orders for the supply of over 2,000 MW and has installed more than 165 MW in markets as diverse as Portugal, Brazil, the US, Sweden and Italy.
