Wind Industry Profile of

Poland: Senvion commissions 18 of its MM100 turbines

Senvion, one of the world’s leading wind turbine manufacturers, has commissioned 18 of its wo-megawatt (MW) turbines with Martifer Renewables S.A., Poland.

The wind farm is in operation in Giza?ki, about 90 kilometres south-east of Pozna?. It is the third biggest Senvion wind farm in Poland and the biggest with Senvion MM100 turbines worldwide. With a total rated power output of 36 MW, the 18 Senvion MM100 turbines will produce enough energy to supply 24,300 Polish households, which equals all private households in the nearby city of Konin, with green energy and save 24,000 tonnes of CO 2 every year.

The commissioning of the 18 Senvion MM100 turbines was finished in July 2015 and they fed their first kilowatt hour (kWh) of renewable energy into the public grid in mid-May 2015. With a hub height of 100 metres and a rated power output of 2 MW, the turbines are the first MM100 turbines installed in Poland. With a swept rotor area of 7,854 m2, the MM100 enables the capture of more wind energy and is ideal for the wind conditions of low-wind sites in Poland. Senvion will provide full maintenance of the wind farm for 20 years.

Hendrik Böschen, Managing Director of Senvion Polska, says: “The successful installation of the first MM100 turbines in Poland was a positive demonstration not only of our strong partnership with Martifer Renewables but also that the MM100 is perfectly adapted to the Polish market – even at low-wind locations in central Poland.” Together, Martifer and Senvion have realised four wind farms with a total rated output of 90 MW in Poland.

Artur Violante, Country Manager at Martifer Renewables S.A., Poland, says: “We have been cooperating with Senvion for several years in Europe. We have built 90 MW in Poland and we are very pleased about this last common project in Giza?ki. We hope that more will come in the future.”

Senvion has been operating on the Polish market since 2010 and has installed turbines with a power output totalling more than 306 MW.
