Wind Industry Profile of
Power measurement and efficiency calculation on wind turbine generators
High energy conversion efficiency is crucial for efficient operation of wind turbines. Efficiency is the ratio between the generators' power output and the power consumed. Analyzing the resulting stored raw data provides insights into how the generator's efficiency can be increased. However, this requires adequate test and measurement equipment. Doing this, a determination of the efficiency class of generators in accordance with IEC 60034 is feasible. Ever larger and thus slow running wind turbines come into play. For the measured torques of Kilo-Newton-meter (kN•m) range are not enough. Recently we see always higher Mega-Newton-meter (MN•m) values. These values have to be measured.
A new webinar from HBM on Nov 14, 2014, offers further insight into advanced wind turbine testing solutions.
In just 60 minutes, HBM explains the aspects you should keep in mind when performing test on generators of wind turbines. Participation is free.
This webinar will explore how to determine and increase efficiency through
-
Determination of the generators' mechanical input power using torque transducers (incl. speed measurement system)
-
Determination of the generators' electrical output power using the Genesis HighSpeed data acquisition system including analysis of resulting raw data
Duration: 60 minutes (presentation approx. 30 min., discussion approx. 30 min.)
The speakers are Dr. André Schäfer, HBM Product and Application Manager Wind Energy and Klaus Lang, HBM Focus Sales Manager Test and Measurement. Please join us.
