Senvion expands 3 megawatt series with 3.4M114 from 2015
The Senvion 3.4M114 and Senvion 3.2M114VG offer optimum yield at locations with average wind speeds. They are therefore particularly suited for the European core markets of Senvion in Germany, France, Belgium, Poland and Italy as well as Australia.
Andreas Nauen, CEO of Senvion SE, says: “By continuously improving our 3.XM series, we are achieving greater yields for our customers. Wind energy has to be and remain competitive. Innovation plays a key role in this.”
The new Senvion 3.4M114 offers over six per cent more rated power: In comparison to the 3.2M114, it increases the annual energy yield by 4.5 per cent at an average wind speed of 7.5 metres per second (m/s). It will be offered in three hub heights (93, 119 and 143 metres) and produced in series from summer 2015. Senvion is using a pure steel tower solution for a hub height of over a hundred metres for the first time. The Senvion 3.4M114 has a rated output of 3.4 megawatts (MW) and a rotor diameter of 114 metres. The prototype is located in Sankt Michaelisdonn in Schleswig-Holstein, Northern Germany.
Like the 3.4M114, the Senvion 3.2M114VG is equipped with vortex generators. This addition ensures better performance of the rotors, as the airflow is guided along the blades for longer. At an average wind speed of 7.5 m/s, the yield is increased by 1.5 per cent compared to the 3.2M114. The turbine will be offered in three hub heights (93, 123 and 143 metres) and is currently being certified.
“With these turbines, we will erect at least two gigawatts of newly installed capacity in the next two fiscal years,” says CEO Andreas Nauen. Senvion has installed over 400 turbines from the 3.XM series since its launch in 2009.
