18 national pavilions at WindEnergy Hamburg – Visitor delegations expected from 20 countries

The Gateway to the World of Wind Energy – WindEnergy Hamburg is the leading trade show for this sector, and is as international as the industry itself. It features more than 1,200 companies from more than 30 countries at the Hamburg Fair site from 23 to 26 September. But in fact the big manufacturers of wind turbines can no longer be identified with just one country – they have long since become global players with production facilities, sales offices and service stations in many different countries, and of course their business is highly international. Some of them have turbines in operation in as many as 70 countries, generating green electricity from wind energy. The international character of WindEnergy Hamburg is also evident in the number of national pavilions – there will be 18 of them, with wind companies from both established and emerging markets. And visitor delegations are expected from 20 countries. So for four days, Hamburg will be the Gateway to the World of Wind Energy for energy experts from all parts of the world.

Big national pavilions

The largest of the 18 national pavilions represents Denmark, which together with Germany is a trailblazing market for the wind industry. The Danish pavilion occupies a whole exhibition hall, with some 70 companies presenting their products and services. Altogether, as many as 100 Danish companies will be exhibiting at WindEnergy Hamburg. Other major national participations include the Netherlands, the Republic of Korea (South Korea), and China. The exhibitors from the Netherlands include globally leading offshore companies.

Europe’s wind energy markets

Following Germany, Spain is the European country with the largest number of installed turbines, and has a strong presence with its own pavilion. The United Kingdom, which takes third place in Europe in terms of number of turbines installed, likewise has its own pavilion. The UK has set itself the target of becoming world leader in offshore wind energy; it is now well on the way to doing that, as shown by the recent figures from renewable UK, the UK’s premier renewable energy event – 1,075 offshore wind turbines were in operation in British waters in June 2014, with total capacity of 3,653 MW. All in all, European countries are represented by 12 national pavilions, giving insights into markets from Finland to Turkey and the Ukraine.

America and Asia

The world’s largest markets are also present at WindEnergy Hamburg, with China and the US represented by numerous companies and by national pavilions. The non-European wind energy markets with their own pavilion also include Canada, Argentina and Korea.

Other events giving the trade visitors further insights into the markets include the Korean-German Windenergy Forum on the second day of the expo (24 September). The Latin-American Forum on 25 September focuses on the wind energy markets in Argentina, Brazil and Uruguay. Visitor delegations from 20 countries

Delegations from a total of 20 countries have so far registered for WindEnergy Hamburg. Visitor groups from key wind markets will be coming to take advantage of the comprehensive information and international networking opportunities at the expo, for example from the USA, China and India. There is evidently a great deal of interest from the countries of South and Central America, with delegations from seven countries in this region. And visitor groups are likewise expected from Japan and Ukraine.

WindEnergy Hamburg – The global on- & offshore expo will be held from 23 to 26 September 2014, opening daily from 9:00 to 18:00 hours. It occupies Halls A1 and B1 to B7 of the Hamburg Fair site, located in the heart of Hamburg.
