Eneco Luchterduinen wind farm: onshore construction of high voltage substation kicks-off

The onshore preparations for the new 129 MW Eneco Luchterduinen, a partnership of Eneco and Mitsubishi Corporation, offshore wind farm have entered a new stage.

Pre-fabricated sub-modules for the Offshore High Voltage Substation (OHVS) have now been transported to the yard of Fabricom in Antwerp, Belgium. In the coming six months, the final assembly and outfitting of the complete OHVS will take place to have it fully tested before the platform will sail out to be installed at the offshore wind farm in February 2015.

At the OHVS, the power produced by the 43 wind turbines will be collected and transmitted to shore via a submarine high voltage cable. Once completed, the wind farm will produce energy for about 150.000 households per year.

Ecofys provides the package manager for the design, fabrication and testing of the complete electrical infrastructure. The focus of the work has now shifted from design to construction of the OHVS on behalf of Eneco Luchterduinen. The package manager will also be involved in the quality inspections during the construction works on site and monitor the progress. The wind farm is expected to be fully operational by the end of 2015.
