Today the U.S. has more than 6,700 MW of wind generating capacity. According to the American Wind Energy Association, wind power has expanded at an average 28% annually over the past five years in the United States. The wind community has set a target of 100 GW of wind electric capacity installed in the U.S. by 2020.
