Wind Industry Profile of
Güris Group from Turkey orders 53 Siemens direct drive wind turbines
The Turkish Güris Group continues its cooperation with Siemens for three new wind power projects scheduled to be built in Turkey. The total scope includes delivery of the new turbines and a five-year service agreement for the three new projects. Siemens will deliver 53 wind turbines with cutting-edge direct drive technology for new onshore wind power plants in Mugla, Edirne-Tekirdag and Kirklareli with a total capacity of 165 MW. Commissioning of the projects is expected between late 2014 and summer 2015.
The Fatma wind farm in Mugla will contribute a capacity of 77 MW with 25 gearless wind turbines. The Zeliha wind farm in Kirklareli in conjunction with the Kanije wind farm in Edirne-Tekirdag will have a generation capacity of 88 MW with a total of 28 direct drive wind turbines. Together the three wind power plants will generate power equivalent to the electricity consumption of up to 250,000 households and will prevent 290,000 tons of CO2 emission per year.
Wind power and energy service are part of Siemens’ Environmental Portfolio. In fiscal 2012, revenue from the Portfolio totaled about €33 billion, making Siemens one of the world’s largest suppliers of ecofriendly technologies. In the same period, our products and solutions enabled customers to reduce their carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions by more than 330 million tons, an amount equal to the total annual CO2 emissions of Berlin, Delhi, Hong Kong, Istanbul, London, New York, Singapore and Tokyo.
