Gamesa to deliver 138 MW of wind power to Renovalia in Mexico
Gamesa, a global technology leader in wind energy, has landed a contract to supply 138 MW for a wind farm which Renovalia – via its subsidiary Desarrollos Eólicos Mexicanos de Oaxaca – will build on Mexico’s Tehuantepec Isthmus.
The contract encompasses the wind farm’s civil engineering and electrical work, the installation of 69 Gamesa 2.0 MW turbines and operation and maintenance (O&M) services for a period of five years, with an option to extend for another 5 years.
Gamesa will deliver 10 turbines (20 MW) in 2013 and 128 MW in 2014. The commissioning is scheduled for the third quarter of 2014.
Gamesa and Renovalia have reached an agreement before for the supply of 90 MW to a Mexican wind farm.
Gamesa has a significant presence in Latin America and particularly in Mexico, where it develops both the development and sale of wind farms activity as well as the supply, installation, operation and maintenance of wind turbines.
The company has installed 765 MW in Mexico. As a wind power developer, Gamesa has developed, built and commissioned more than 170 MW, it is building another 144 MW and has a portfolio of 544 MW at varying stages of development.
At June 2013, Latin America accounted for the 48% of the total MW sold by Gamesa.
