The program for the inaugural Renewable Energy Storage Summit was announced today with leading system operators, utilities, wind developers and investors featured.

By solving key challenges around integration, curtailment and dispatchability, energy storage is set to shift the wind business landscape and open new project opportunities across Canada.

The Renewable Energy Storage Summit will bring together wind developers and suppliers, system operators, utilities, investors and regulators to discuss the economics, finance and practicalities of energy storage and give critical insight into how the structure of the wind sector will change as a result of energy storage. The speaker line-up for the Summit so far includes:

Jacques Duchesne, Program Manager Wind Integration, Alberta Electric System Operator (AESO)
Ioan Agavriloai, Manager, System Performance & Models, Independent Electricity System Operator (IESO)
Craig Glazer, Vice President – Federal, Govt. Policy, PJM Interconnection, L.L.C.
Jacques Brochu, Researcher, Institut de recherche d’Hydro-Québec
Peter Clibbon, Vice President, RES Canada
Berk Gursoy, Vice President, Wind Operations, Brookfield Renewable Power Inc.
Jeff Jenner, President and CEO, Renewable Energy Developers Inc. (ReD)
Greg Wolf, Renewables President, Duke Energy

The Summit will provide the complete picture of how energy storage is changing the wind business including the economics, finance, ROI, performance and operation of these technologies. It will also offer insight on how system operators and utilities view storage and its impacts on wind as well as new project opportunities for wind storage hybrids in remote locations across Canada.

“Economic and reliable energy storage will eventually transform the wind business in Canada and globally,” said Adrienne Baker, Director of Canadian Clean Energy Conferences, which is organizing the event. “This Summit will offer an opportunity for the industry to hear about the potential and challenges of these technologies and when, where and how storage can offer solutions for wind.”
