Call for Abstracts for WINDaba 2013: Deadline 31 May!

With the financial close imminent for the second-bid-window projects identified under South Africa’s Renewable Energy Independent Power Producer Procurement Programme (REIPPPP), the wind energy sector in South Africa has never been more dynamic!

Don’t miss the opportunity to share your latest ideas, technologies, projects and products at ‘Africa’s premier wind energy show', WINDaba, the official annual conference and exhibition organised by the South African Wind Energy Association (SAWEA) and GWEC. The Call for Abstracts will close on 31 May 2013.

Proposals are requested on any subject of interest in this phase of the growth of our industry, while special emphasis will be placed this year on adding the following aspects to the Windaba programme:

  • What technical interventions are needed to develop the potential of wind power in South Africa over and above the 9,000 MW currently envisaged in the IRP 2010?
  • What is the role of small wind turbines, off-grid applications, mini-grids, rural electrification and hybrid systems?
  • How can better regional integration in Southern and East Africa unlock an export market for locally manufactured wind equipment?
  • What role is implied for wind power by the acceptance of the National Development Plan?
  • What is the role of Special Development Zones for wind power?

Please submit your abstract via the Windaba website or e-mail it to Leole-Ann Tchimbioputo at:  leole@windaba.co.za. Please ensure that you include the following in your abstract submission: Name of Presenter, Credentials, Title of Abstract, a brief summary of 500 words or less and/or a presentation. Confirmation of receipt will be made within 3 days of submission. Once a decision has been made on which abstracts are accepted, authors will be informed via the email address used for the submission process.

Further information on Windaba, including sponsorship and exhibition opportunities, can be found on the event website, or by contacting the events team on +27 84 5992535.
