In reality, however, it was often easier to omit or “forget” to attach the loose safety pin and ring, as the process was tedious and complex (if they had not been lost). However, it is particularly important to use operating tools properly and safely, especially where large forces come into play, in order to prevent injury.

The Impact Fix safety device is now integrated in the impact socket, which eliminates the need to assemble three elements (socket, pin and ring). A second pin safety device including ring (that won’t get lost) is already attached to the impact socket – a very safe and simple solution. The pins are automatically pushed into the drill holes of the square drive when the ring is attached. The double ring groove on the insert makes it easy to move the ring. This minimises the risk of injury in comparison with the usual market systems, because if the safety ring tears there is no safety pin to be catapulted out of the rotating insert.

This product is ideal for sensitive areas, where loss safety, process safety and occupational safety are permanent considerations. It can be used in overhead line construction, wind energy plants, machine construction and the automotive sector.

The product is made of vanadium steel (59 Cr V4), which makes it particularly resistant to blows and impact stress. The inserts are in a gun-metal finish and protected by DBGM (German utility patent).

The square drive complies with DIN 3121, and is fitted with the GEDORE Unit Drive (UD profile) for the perfect, smooth power transmission. The impact socket can be operated mechanically or manually by torque multiplier.

The GEDORE impact socket IMPACT FIX is available with a ¾ and 1” drive, in various spanner sizes, and in a short or long version. The product will be available from authorised retailers from February 2013. RRP between € 15 and € 65 plus VAT, depending on size and version.
