This week: Lidar – WINDCUBE v2 gets mobile and autonomous: Integrated trailer-based solution from German remote sensing specialist GWU-Umwelttechnik GmbH
Wind energy applications often require wind (profile) measurements for site assessment or power curve verification without access to mains power. Due to the low power consumption of the WINDCUBE v2 a fuel cell in combination with a small photovoltaic system is sufficient to reliably power the system over extended time periods. All system parts can be stowed into the trailer for transportation.
The trailer body is large enough to host lidar system, hybrid power supply and to carry the solar panels during the measurement in the desired position. Nevertheless it is compact and light enough to be moved by standard cars (max. total weight 1300kg). All details of the system reflect decades of experience in meteorological and wind energy field measurements. Rugged construction with a hot-dipped chassis emphasize the ideas for quality. All critical system information is online available as well as the measurement data with the WINDCUBE Anywhere SAT/3G remote access option. The trailer has permission for 100 km/h maximum speed for Germany.
