Programme of 3rd World Wind Energy Conference now available
Bonn (WWEA) – More than 500 delegates from all over the world will be expected to attend the 3rd World Wind Energy Conference in Beijing (31 October – 4 November) to discuss in 150 presentations all aspects of wind energy utilisation. The WWEC 2004 programme can now be found at the conference website www.wwec2004.cn. 60 companies, amongst them the leading wind turbine and component manufacturers as well as service suppliers, have booked stands at the accompanying exhibition.
The WWEC 2004 will be co-organised by the World Wind Energy Association jointly with the Chinese Wind Energy Association. It takes place under the patronage of Alpha Oumar Konaré, Chairman of the Commission of the African Union. The event is supported by the Chinese National Development and Reform Commission, the Chinese Ministries of Science and Technology, of Agriculture and of Commerce, the German Ministry for the Environment, UNESCO, the International Solar Energy Society, the International Hydropower Association, InWEnt and 70 international wind energy organisations.

Besides, several CEOs and Directors of the leading wind turbine manufacturers will speak at the WWEC 2004 about their viewpoints and perspectives of the wind industry development in China and worldwide.
Leading wind energy experts from all over the world will cover all economic, political, technological, social and environmental aspects of wind energy utilisation – the WWEC programme includes 150 presentations and further poster presentations.
The WWEC 2004 takes place in the Chinese capital city at a time when the Chinese government has committed itself to substantially increase the share of renewable energy, mainly wind energy. The Chinese government’s official target is to increase the installed capacity from currently 600 MW up to 1.000 MW by the end of the year of 2005, 4.000 MW in 2010 and 20.000 MW in 2020. An appropriate renewable energy legislation to speed up the development of the wind industry in the country has been announced to come into force in the near future.
