Molins de vent Tarragó: Windmills TARRAGÓ in Kazakhstan

Montblanc-Tarragona, Spain, 17.11.2011. Few weeks ago the first windmill TARRAGÓ was supplied to Kazakhstan through the German import-export company, Bähr, based in Marsberg. Further windmills shall be supplied to this country where lack of water supply is a central problem hampering the local development. Due to the arid wheatear conditions, the agriculture strongly depends on sufficient clean water supply. After years with low investment in this sector, the government has decided to implement a national water management program financed though raw material exports.
The national energy consumption was satisfied till now through fossil energy sources. Now, more and more, off-grid systems like micro-wind energy shall be built. In line with this, the national energy generation company, Kazatomprom, announced at the beginning of October in the “Energy News” the intention to satisfy energy needs in areas without electrical networks though off-grid systems.
Also some foreign companies have showed its interest in providing renewable energies to Kazakhstan, e.g. Nitol Solar Ltd from Russia announced its plans in the newspaper “Kazakhstan Today” in August.
TARRAGÓ will, for the time being, concentrate its activities in the 16,2 million (2010) populated country, in the partnership with Bähr. This first shipment is seen as an open door to a country where Spain does not has any export quote, but Germany – with a 6,1% of products in Kazakhstan coming from Germany in 2008 – does. Other countries where Kazakhstan buys are Russia (36,4%) and China (24,3%).
