Van Oord has installed more than 40 kilometres of inter array cables for the 269 MW Deutsche Bucht offshore wind farm. These cables form the connection between the turbines and the offshore substation and enable smooth dispatch and transfer of electricity to the mainland.
Van Oord and AdBm Technologies have demonstrated the new AdBm Noise Mitigation System (NMS), with support from TNO. The NMS reduces underwater noise resulting from offshore pile driving wind turbine foundations.
Van Oord and Ace Aquatec have formed a strategic partnership whereby the FaunaGuard will be made available to all marine contractors and other interested parties. The FaunaGuard is an innovative acoustic device to protect marine fauna near marine construction activities.
Today Van Oord installed, in cooperation with the North Sea Foundation, the Natuur & Milieu organisation and Eneco, reef balls and cages containing flat oysters within the Luchterduinen offshore wind farm, 23 kilometres west of the Dutch port city of IJmuiden. The “Rich North Sea” project will investigate how nature conservation and sustainable energy generation can reinforce one another.
TenneT has awarded the Van Oord-Hellenic Cables consortium the assignment to supply and install sea and land cables for the Hollandse Kust (South) Alpha project. The 700 MW grid connection will transmit offshore wind energy to electricity users in the Netherlands.
Balance of Plant Contractor Van Oord successfully installed the first foundation at the Deutsche Bucht Offshore Wind Farm. The installation of this foundation marks the start of the construction period at sea and visualises the first contours of this 33-turbine wind farm.
