ScottishPower awards turbine contract, worth more than £1 billion, for its East Anglia TWO offshore windfarm just weeks after renewables auction success. Huge boost for UK manufacturing, with blades for the 64 turbines to be manufactured in Siemens Gamesa’s Hull factory, which provides 1,300 local jobs. The £4 billion windfarm will produce enough clean energy to power the equivalent of almost 1 million homes.

The offshore turbine will have 40% more power than the latest turbine with 115 meter rotor blades and is projected to enter the market until 2030

Grupo Daniel Alonso, owner of 68% of Windar, and Siemens Gamesa, which owns the remaining 32%, have reached an agreement to sell the company to Bridgepoint. Orlando Alonso will continue as President and CEO of Windar, and will retain an indirect minority stake in the company.

Siemens Gamesa and Repsol have strengthened their commercial ties with the signing of two new contracts for the supply of 40 SG 5.0-145 onshore turbines for six wind farms in Spain, totaling 200 MW. Following this agreement, Repsol will have eight wind farms employing Siemens Gamesa technology, reaching a total of 324 MW.

Poland’s offshore wind industry is set to make giant leaps in the coming years, facilitated by a 1.5-GW deal between Siemens Gamesa and developers PGE Baltica and Ørsted in which they agreed to supply the wind turbines for the Baltica 2 offshore wind project in the Baltic Sea.

Siemens Gamesa has signed a supply agreement with leading steel company ArcelorMittal’s subsidiary in India to supply 46 SG 3.6-145 wind turbines for a project totaling 166 MW in Andhra Pradesh. The clean electricity produced will be used by one of its steel plants, providing a much-needed boost to the industry’s decarbonization efforts in the country.
