Welcome to the new edition of the Windfair Newsletter.

The (German) wind industry is in a spirit of optimism. At least, this is the impression you get when you walk through the exhibition halls in Husum. It comes as no surprise that the much-maligned German Federal Minister of Economics, Robert Habeck, was also present at the opening. By contrast, the situation is very different in the UK: The last auction round caused horrified looks, because no one wants to build an offshore wind farm in British waters under the current conditions. That puts the government in acute trouble of meeting its net-zero targets.

Germany: A spirit of optimism at HUSUM Wind
Detail_husum_2Until tomorrow afternoon, the wind industry will be meeting in Germany for the HUSUM Wind trade fair. The German Federal Minister of Economics, Robert Habeck, did not miss the opportunity to return to his personal origins and opened the trade fair on Tuesday - as he did more than ten years ago when he was still the Minister of the Environment of Schleswig-Holstein where Husum is located. He met an industry in a spirit of optimism.

Of course, a visit is easier when you know that the public will welcome you with open arms.
