With the installation of the Northwester 2 offshore wind farm in May, Belgium reaches an installed capacity of 1,775 MW and surpasses Denmark as the world's fourth largest producer of offshore wind energy.
World market leader remains the UK with 10,428 MW, followed by Germany with 7,659 MW and China with around 7,000 MW. Denmark followed in 4th place until May 2020 with 1,703 MW, but is now replaced by Belgium with 1,775 MW.
