Wind Industry Profile of

Modular rotor locks for on-shore and off-shore wind turbines

Market entry by the expert in industrial clamping and locking technology

Hilma-Römheld GmbH, worldwide one of the leading suppliers of industrial clamping and locking technology, offers a modular programme for rotor locks in on-shore and off-shore turbines having a rating of up to 6 MW. The elements for locking the rotors for checking and maintenance purposes are available as a standard version and an off-shore version with special surface protection. The core is a double-acting bolt, moved either hydraulically or electromechanically with position control, which serves as a closing mechanism. As an option, the rotor lock is available with a check valve, an additional mechanical lock or adjustable position control. On request, the rotor lock is offered without a housing and integral position control. Hilma rotor locks have a compact design to suit customer-specific dimensions, they require a low level of maintenance and they are resistant to corrosion. The standard version can be used at temperatures between -20°C and +70°C. Clamping and locking technology for any branch of industry and any application The rotor lock is based on standard modules and can be customized according to a consistent concept. Even special designs are rapidly available at affordable prices. All products are made in our German headquarters in Hilchenbach. The new product range allows manufacturers and operators of wind turbines to take advantage of the entire Hilma product portfolio. It comprises clamping and locking technology for almost all branches of industry and all applications, even for extreme temperatures as high as +300°C in forging applications or as low as -70°C in freeze-drying plants or when high forces of up to 800 kN are applied, e.g., in slide locks, or up to 23,000 kN in large presses.
