GL-certified Condition Monitoring System for independent surveillance of conditions

The GL-certified CMS used by the cmc GmbH permanently records oscillations, which arise during turbine operation in form of structure-born noise by "shifting movement" in antifriction bearings and by tooth engagement in gearboxes. These oscillations contain information about the condition of mechanical components.

To access these vibrations acceleration sensors are installed on well defined measuring points at the main and generator bearings and at the gearbox.

The acquired oscillation signals will be transferred to an additionally installed data acquisition unit in the turbine. Taking into account relevant operation data such as kinematics rpm, power and optionally wind velocity a turbine specific data analysis will be performed. After this preprocessing this condition evaluation will be transferred to our Monitoring Centre using an online connection.

During a period of approx. 3 to 5 months - when the whole power curve of the WTG needs to be tested, the final adjustments for the permanent surveillance of the necessary warning- and alarm scales is carried out. Especially the individual scales of load dependencies and oscillation signals are implemented in the system. In this way normal operating oscillations can be separated from vibrations caused by damages. Automatic alarms will be caused by exceeding specified oscillation limit values. Therefore, on the basis of oscillation- and envelope-spectrum, there is the possibility of a detailed, turbine-specific data analysis and profound diagnosis of an experienced technical operation for oscillation of the cmc GmbH.
