The £2.6bn Beatrice Offshore Windfarm (BOWF) is situated in the Outer Moray Firth and will generate power for approximately 450,000 homes, which is around three times the number of homes in the Moray and Highland regions. Red7Marine was for the project by contracted by Stockon Drilling.

84 Siemens 7MW turbines are being installed at the site providing a total capacity of 588MW once complete. The initial works began on the project in March 2017 which involved installing cable ducts at a site location to the west of Buckie. Red7Marine supplied the Haven Seariser 1 jack up barge with a qualified bargemaster to assist the removal and transport of the tunnel boring equipment

Red7Marine’s in-house engineering team also supported the project by providing detailed jack up barge leg penetration analysis, floating stability calculations, sea-fastening designs, deck plans and provided the technical support across the marine side of the project.

Nick Offord, Managing Director at Red7Marine comments: “The Haven Seariser 1 was chosen for the project at Buckie because of its ability to work in shallow water depths and its maximum deck load of 250 tonnes. It also has the capacity to be elevated in adverse weather conditions allowing us to provide a safe and stable platform for heavy marine lifts. The project was a success and we were delighted to be a part of it.”

Red7Marine has an extensive fleet of near shore modular jack up barges which can assist with the installation of subsea cable landings and the option for fabricated deck configurations to suit the requirements of individual projects.

The Managing Director at Stockton Drilling, Fiona O’Connell commented: The successful recovery of the TBM in a highly variable marine environment was a crucial element of work as part of the landfall project for Beatrice.  This was successfully achieved with our partnership with RED7Marine, supplying their jack-up – Haven Seariser – and providing invaluable marine expertise.”
