The project has a tendered capacity of 700 megawatts and is located 20 kilometers west of The Hague in the North Sea. Commissioning must take place by 2021 and is to be carried out without guaranteed feed-in tariffs at market conditions. It is the first time that the Netherlands has put such an auction out to tender.

“As an energy company with a strong presence in the Dutch market and with a firm view on the developments in the Dutch power market, we are very committed to take a leading role in the green transformation of the Dutch economy. Hollandse Kust Zuid would be an important milestone,” says Magnus Hall, CEO, Vattenfall.

Thanks to its extensive experience in the offshore sector, the company believes that it is in a position to operate the project profitably even without subsidies.
