Senvion, a leading global manufacturer of wind turbines, was selected by EnBW Energie Baden-Württemberg AG as its exclusive cooperation partner for the realization of projects totaling several hundred megawatts (MW) throughout Germany. At the start of the cooperation, EnBW will submit planning applications at short notice for the planned projects featuring the new Senvion 3.4M140 low-speed wind turbine. Once approval is obtained, the wind farms are then able to participate in auctions under the German Renewable Energy Sources Act.

Jürgen Geissinger, CEO at Senvion, says: "Germany is and remains a core market for Senvion. Senvion has experience from various markets with auction systems and has demonstrated technological competence in the last two years through strategic product launches. As a result, our customers in Germany and worldwide have a strong partner in Senvion in order to win auctions. "

Jochen Magerfleisch, Executive Vice President Sales Europe at Senvion, says: "This milestone is an important signal in many respects: Firstly, we are delighted that EnBW has such confidence in our work and technology. Secondly, the number of planning applications involving Senvion wind turbines shows that we are meeting demand head on at various German locations with our new low-speed wind turbines. Last but not least, this cooperation between EnBW and Senvion demonstrates that the energy transition in Germany will continue with the new German Renewable Energy Sources Act and is being driven by us."

Franc Schütz, Head of "Onshore Renewables Projects" at EnBW, emphasizes: "EnBW is resolutely driving the expansion of wind energy further as a significant part of its strategic repositioning. In the onshore segment, we want to have put a total of 1,000 megawatts into operation by 2020. We are delighted to have Senvion at our side as a renowned technology partner with high-performance turbines for projects involving several hundred megawatts. For us, the cooperation with Senvion is therefore a further way to succeed with competitive offers in the new tender system."
