LM Wind Power successfully completes installation and test of 66.5 meter offshore blade for Hitachi's 5.2MW wind turbine

LM Wind Power has successfully completed installation and testing of a 66.5 meter wind turbine blade, ordered by Hitachi, Ltd. for offshore application.

LM Wind Power and Hitachi commenced installation of the 66.5 meter blade in 2016 with the aim of optimizing Hitachi's 5.2MW platform to operate effectively also in lower wind sites. The new LM Wind Power blades will now enable Hitachi to offer their 5.2MW wind turbine with a rotor size of 136 meters. The 66.5 meter blades have been tested on a wind turbine of the Kashima Port Fukashiba Wind Power Station in east Japan since October last year. The Energy Ministers of 8 Baltic Sea countries – Lithuania, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Germany, Latvia, Poland and Sweden agreed the Vilnius Declaration, pledging closer collaboration to secure critical offshore energy infrastructure in the Baltic Sea region. This comes after the Russian invasion of Ukraine and various acts of sabotage to energy infrastructure in the Baltic Sea have created new security concerns. The signatories commit to deter possible malign activities against offshore and underwater infrastructure within NATO and EU.

Landinfra Energy AB ("Landinfra") and Eiffel Investment Group via its managed investment funds Eiffel Infrastructure Vertes and Eiffel Transition Infrastructure ("Eiffel"), a leading French asset manager, have entered into an agreement to jointly develop a pipeline of up to 1800 MW of renewable energy projects in Sweden consisting of solar power, wind power and energy storage projects. As part of the agreement Eiffel acquires 50% of the portfolio from Landinfra, who will retain the remaining 50%.

The EU Commission today announced that it will launch an inquiry into Chinese suppliers of wind turbines under the new Foreign Subsidies Regulation. The announcement comes as Chinese wind turbine manufacturers are pushing hard and winning some orders in Europe. They offer cheap turbines and generous finance which distorts the integrity of the European market and disrupts fair competition.
