Poland: GE Renewable Energy and Vestas to be Event Ambassadors of Wind Power Poland 2016

Market leaders GE Renewable Energy and Vestas are supporting the Polish event as Event Ambassadors with the aim of fostering discussions about the future of the national market and encouraging clients & partners to participate in the exhibition.

“GE believes that wind energy is instrumental in making Polish energy mix more sustainable and secure.  We are committed and looking forward to working with all stakeholders in the market towards achieving Polish Renewable Energy goals for 2020 and beyond” said Cliff Harris, General Manager at GE Renewable Energy EMEA.

“With an increasing electricity demand at 0.9 percent per year and aging power infrastructure, Poland needs to invest in modern, low- emission energy sources, and has huge potential for wind energy” added Beata Stelmach, GE Chief Executive for Poland and the Baltics.

In fact, this huge potential was reflected in EWEA’s 2015 European Statistics released this week, in which Poland was listed as the second largest market in 2015 in terms of annual installations in Europe with 1,266.4 MW, more than twice the annual installations in 2014 and one quarter of its national cumulative capacity at end 2015.

Thanks to this record year in annual installations, Poland, with 5.1 GW (3.6% of cumulative capacity), is now the seventh EU country per capacity installed, having overtaken Denmark and Portugal.

“We are pleased to take the role of the Event Ambassador of the Wind Power Poland 2016” said Klaus Steen Mortensen, President, Vestas Northern Europe. “Vestas has a proven track record in the Polish market and with onshore wind being one of the most competitive energy sources, we look forward to continue to support our customers in advancing the wind energy sector in Poland.”

Billed as the largest wind industry conference & exhibition in Central & Eastern Europe, Wind Power Poland 2016 promises to energize the Polish wind industry landscape.

The event will gather over 2500 participants, including high-ranking EU and national officials, key wind industry representatives and NGOs.

Registration is now open and you are encouraged to sign up via the official event website.
