Statkraft takes control of Andershaw Wind Farm project in Scotland

Statkraft is now the sole owner of the Andershaw Wind Farm after acquiring Duke Energy Renewables’ 50% share in the project company. The 35MW development, situated south of Glasgow, is fully consented.

Statkraft has been developing the site at Andershaw in a 50/50 joint venture partnership with Duke Energy Renewables since 2006. Statkraft has acquired Duke Energy Renewables’ interest in the project and now owns 100% of Andershaw Wind Power Limited. Andershaw Wind Power’s development partner has been Force 9 Energy.

Andershaw Wind Farm was granted planning consent in June 2014. The consent allows for up to 14 turbines and associated infrastructure. Construction is planned to start in 2015 pending a final investment decision.

Recently Statkraft sold a minority stake in a portfolio of three operational onshore wind farms in the UK, in which it remains as the operator. This sale has released capital and enables investments in new projects and further growth for Statkraft in the UK.

“We are very pleased with raising our stake in the Andershaw Wind Farm project. Statkraft is a long term investor in the UK renewables sector and has firm growth ambitions in wind power. The UK has an outstanding wind resource and is a very important market for us”, said Shimon Shoshani, Head of Onshore Wind Development UK, Statkraft.
