This week: Specialty Shrink Wraps Protect Industrial Assets

Manistee, 30.01.2012. Dr. Shrink's specialty shrink wraps can help keep these extra-large and unique shaped assets safe. In addition to its world-famous virgin resin, UV stabilized shrink wrap, which is now offered in widths up to 15m, the company also offers flame retardant and volatile corrosion inhibiting (VCI) shrink wraps.

Dr. Shrink's Flame Retardant Wrap contains specialized additives to extinguish the cover within four seconds from removal of ignition source. It meets and exceeds NFPA 701 specifications. Available in opaque white, it allows light to pass through and make a well-lit workspace. Dr. Shrink now carries Flame Retardant Shrink Wrap in 8m wide rolls in 178, 228 and 304 micron thicknesses, 10m wide rolls in 228 and 304 micron thicknesses and 12m wide rolls in a 304 micron thickness.

Engines, accessories, spare parts and other metal equipment are susceptible to rust and corrosion even when well-protected. Dr. Shrink's VCI Shrink Wrap contains chemical formulations that release an odorless, non-toxic vapor, causing corrosion inhibiting molecules to condense and form a protective layer on all exposed surfaces. The VCI Shrink Wrap is applied just as standard shrink wrap to provide an airtight environment.

When the metal object is uncovered, the VCI molecular layer will vaporize, leaving a clean, dry, corrosion-free item that's ready to use.
