What if... U.S. Offshore Project Developer Publishes Interesting Mind Game
Detail_schneesturm_1In the U.S., offshore wind industry is still in its infancy. Although the first offshore wind farm has been up and running since the end of 2016, residents and government still seem to be not quite convinced of the technology. This makes a study recently published by an offshore wind developer all the more interesting. The study examines the possible effects of an offshore wind farm on the electricity grid during a severe snowstorm like the one at the beginning of the year.

Background

In August 2016, the state of Massachusetts passed comprehensive legislation on energy diversity as part of a broad effort to reduce energy costs, ...

Texas Waves Combine Wind Energy and Storage
Detail_eon_20180126E. ON has put two 10-megawatt batteries into operation in Texas to stabilise the grid.

The so-called Texas Waves lithium-ion energy storage units are now entering the market for system services. The batteries are able to react quickly to fluctuations in the power grid and thus improve security of supply for customers.

E. ON's concept is to stabilise the grid by combining renewable energy production and battery storage. Texas Waves is therefore an integral part of E. ON's wind farms in Pyron and Inadale. ...

It is located 40 km from Ostend and will comprise 42 Siemens turbines with an individual peak capacity of 7.35 MW, producing 309 MW at peak conditions.

The substation transforms the produced wind ...

At The Limit: Drone Pilots Are Conquering Wind Industry
Detail_drohnenoptikRenewable energies are still a developing industry branch. However, some companies can benefit from their experience in other business areas and successfully use it in wind energy, as demonstrated by Cyberhawk, a global provider of unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) inspection, survey and asset management services.

Transfer of Experience

The UK-based company has many years of experience in oil and gas industry inspections. For some time now, renewable energies have also been playing an increasingly important role in Cyberhawk's portfolio. Only two ...
